Fateh! We’re happy to share that we completed the Sikh Century on Saturday, November 6!
Our group of nine cyclists and two volunteers in a support car made our way from the Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento to the Yuba City Nagar Kirtan — a distance of 50 miles.
We started at dawn after an Ardaas prayer led by the Bhai Sahib at Gurdwara West Sacramento and then began riding, meeting our volunteer support driver 30 miles in. As we approached Yuba City, we started to detect rain and kept our fingers crossed that the weather would hold.
We reached the Yuba City Nagar Kirtan in less than four hours and as we enjoyed our lunch (choley, bhaturay, pakoras and more), festivities and community, the rain began to fall. We decided to make a quick escape for the 50-mile return home but we were caught in a good downpour for the first 20 miles on the way out.
The rain stopped with 30 miles left and our shoes finally drained of water as we kept pedaling under more sunny skies. We got back to West Sacramento by about 4 PM with the satisfaction of a mission accomplished.
This 100-mile ride was our crowning event for the year. Several members of our group set personal records for distance, so congratulations to them! It was an epic day and quite a feat all around and we already can’t wait to do it again next year.
Keep the first weekend of November 2022 open and join us!
