We hope you’ve been keeping well and are enjoying the summer season. Here is a summary of what we’ve been up to and what is coming up!
Thank you for joining us for our 2022 Miri Piri Diwas Ride!
On Saturday, July 23, we enjoyed a beautiful day cycling around the South Bay, starting from the Gurdwara Sahib Milpitas and taking in great views on both paved and gravel routes. We also were excited to welcome new cyclists to the Club!
The Sikh concept of Miri Piri was initiated by the sixth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Hargobind, in the 17th century. It refers to the Guru’s temporal (mir) and spiritual (pir) authority. He embodied this by wearing two swords, and thus laid the foundation of the concept of Sikh sovereignty that we still carry today. We always remember that worldly power must go hand in hand with spiritual power. Our spirituality must translate into action.

Sikh Cycling Club takes on the Marin Century!
We took on the Marin Century!
On Saturday, August 6, three Sikh Cycling Club members entered our first event as a club — a climbers’ delight in Marin County, California. Baljinder Singh, Paul Sachdeva and Winty Singh completed 71 miles with 6K feet of climbing elevation on a perfect summer day. We didn’t get to complete the full 100 miles, but we did hit personal records and enjoyed cycling with 1,600 participants, many of whom chatted with us excited to see a Sikh contingent at the event. Thanks to Marin Cyclists for organizing a great event!
Sikh Century to the Yuba City Nagar Kirtan: get ready!
Our signature ride is on November 5, 2022, a 100-mile ride to the Yuba City Nagar Kirtan from the Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento. The ride is an out-and-back — 50 miles each way. For those that don’t want to do the full 100, you are welcome to ride 50 miles to arrive in Yuba City, but you must make your own arrangements for transportation thereafter.

Thanks to all who ordered a Sikh Cycling Club kit. These are now in production and we expect they will be delivered by early to mid-September. Stay tuned to your e-mail inboxes for updates from Eliel Cycling who will notify you when your order has shipped. Looking forward to seeing you in your team kit!
