We rode to nine Gurdwaras in one day!

On October 21, we rode 86 miles to visit nine (yes, nine!) different Gurdwaras in the Sacramento region. Our route included the following:

  • Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento (West Sacramento, CA)
  • Guru Nanak Sat Sangat of California (Sacramento, CA)
  • Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar Sahib (Sacramento, CA)
  • Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society (Sacramento, CA)
  • Gurdwara Khalsa Darbar (Sacramento, CA)
  • Guru Maneyo Granth Gurdwara Sahib (Orangevale, CA)
  • Gurdwara Sri Sachkhand Gurdwara Sahib (Roseville, CA)
  • Gurdwara Shri Guru Ravi Dass Temple of Sacramento (Rio Linda, CA)
  • Capital Sikh Center (Sacramento, CA)

We finished back where we started at Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento.

This was a new ride and experience for us and it went quite well (other than a bee sting, but that didn’t deter one of our riders from finishing.

Riding to nine different Gurdwaras on a Saturday gave us a poignant slice of Sikh life, because there were different things going on at the different Gurdwaras: weddings, a funeral, Nishan Sahib seva (changing of the Sikh flag) and Khalsa schools for kids. Some of the Gurdwaras had new buildings under construction or just constructed. We really got to feel the vibrancy of the community.

This ride coincided with the birth anniversary of Baba Budha Ji, a revered figure in Sikh history who lived during the time of the first six Gurus.
