Join our Miri Piri Ride on July 24 in Santa Cruz, CA!

Sikh Cycling Club is coming back to the Bay Area!

Guru Hargobind

Our next event is scheduled on Saturday, July 24 at 8:00 AM in celebration of Miri Piri Diwas, commemorating Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru of the Sikhs, donning of two swords in 1606 to combine miri and piri — temporal and spiritual authority — and declaring that Sikhi is to be lived in the real world. It is through our spiritual ethos that we stand against injustice and raise the voices of the oppressed. The legacy of Guru Hargobind’s declaration defines our how we engage in our world even today.

We’re planning an approximately 62-mile/100 km (metric century) ride around the cool confines of Santa Cruz that will take us along the coast and into its forests and hills for a total climbing elevation of 3,300 feet. The route can easily be modified for shorter distances for those who prefer.

We’ll start at the Starbucks Coffee at 5600 Scotts Valley Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066. Please arrive at 8 AM, and prepare to ride by 8:30 AM. More information, including route details, is available on our Miri Piri Ride page on Strava.

Feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to seeing you there!
